The Harp Juniper

The Story So Far

I am pleased to say that this tree has responded well to the feeding and watering programme it has received during the spring months and is putting on lots of new healthy growth.

The apex of the tree is quite crowded and dense while the lower branches continue to develop steadily.

The objective at this stage is to thin the apex out a little and wire it a little to allow light in. This will help stimulate fresh growth. As I continue with the feeding and watering regime the bottom branches will be left to develop further

The apex has been thinned considerably then wired and the branches  positioned to open it up. I have lost a roll of 1mm wire otherwise I could have wired a little bit more.

In order to make best use of the live vein the tree has been reversed to form a new front. The current plan of action is to let the bottom branches develop further and bring them around from the back to fill out the new front. I think that this is quite feasible at this stage.
