New Shohin Chamaecyparis Project

When at the North Coast last week I visited a local garden center and picked up a few trees at a very reasonable price. This little Chamaecyparis (unnamed variety) was £6.99 and I think I got a bit of a good deal.

Tree Nebari Exposed

I have taken about 2 inches off soil to expose the lower trunk and  Nebari.

Trunk and Taper

The trunk has good taper and some lower movement

 Nebari

The nebari has good potential.

I know nothing about working with Chamaecyparis apart from the fact that back-budding on old wood is impossible.

I am going to have a go at styling the tree in the next few days. I see a little deadwood here and there but apart from that anything is possible
