Kiyohime Early Buds

I expect that the next few weeks will see many bloggers posting images of early signs of spring. I’m pleased to see that my Acer Kiyohime is doing just that . It has been in an open greenhouse that has received good sunshine on many days throughout this fairly mild winter. The leaf buds are already starting to swell.

I have shown a couple of images. One each before and after a light prune to open up the ramification, let in more light when in full leaf and to remove old die back tips following last summers maintenance pruning.

The tree was re-potted a couple of years ago and as it is healthy enough I think it will manage another year until I do it again
