Today the people of Paris together with their fellow countrymen stand in grief in the awful aftermath of the dreadful carnage brought upon them last night by a group of religious zealots. We as helpless observers can only feebly express our sincere condolences and sympathies to the many bereaved and injured and pray that the hearts and minds of all who have been touched by these events will know healing and recovery.
It is a chilling fact however that while we feel the horror of it all there are many others who are filled with jubilation and are celebrating a marvellous victory. God pity them.
Such is the reality we live in that many of us have already asked the question when and where will the next atrocity take place and world leaders and politicians continue to grapple helplessly with this uncertainty.
It’s the uncertainty that’s crippling but in it all there is one thing that we can be sure about and it is that despite the claims of these zealots THIS WAS NOT DONE IN THE NAME OF GOD.
The God of the Bible is Holy, Just and Good. His Righteousness and Grace have always marked him in his dealings with men whom he created. I have no desire to remove the reality of his anger and wrath against wickedness from the page of Holy Scripture. Neither do I want to airbrush from history the fact that many have committed similar and worse atrocities in his name. Furthermore rather than mask the fact that there is RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT ahead for this perishing world I am bound to confirm that the Holy Writings make it clear that there is.
Such truth raises many questions in the minds of finite beings like ourselves and while I could attempt an explanation now this short blog is neither the time or the place to do so. It is sufficient for me to say that GOD IS HIS OWN APOLOGIST and the answers that we seek are contained in the very book, the Bible that tells us honestly about his wrath. My simple purpose in the wake of this awful tragedy is to declare that the bible makes no provision for JIHAD or JIHADISTS but rather declares in the wonderfully poetic language of Isaiah the prophet :
Isa 52:7 ¶ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation.
Paul the apostle quoted these words in his Roman letter when he said Ro 10:15 … it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Jesus himself said Mt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. We all know what the world did with him and his message of peace. The world in its wisdom nailed him to a tree.
We will never know peace in this world until he returns but we can know peace with God and the peace of God in our hearts through him who died for sin upon the tree. Romans 5:1 ¶ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
The people who committed these awful crimes yesterday have all died. Some died by their own hands and others by the hands of the French law officers. If past experience is anything to go by they believed that their deaths would usher them into paradise and all that awaited them there. Please be assured of this that according to the Word of God, if they died as they lived their last moments they have gone out into ETERNAL NIGHT and all that it entails. Sadly they will never know peace. Such is the severity of the wrath of our righteous God.
I know that this is not among the most widely read blogs on the net and I realise that while I have no desire to offend anyone’s sensitivities the blog might be read even less following this post but I can live with that.
