My second larch which was re-potted last year is progressing nicely this year. Having been heavily fed in the early growing season it was time to give the first flush of extension growth a light trim to encourage ramification. As is expected when the tree is fed heavily the needles are longer than would be desired on a ” finished tree.” Any further extension growth, assuming we actually get some heat this year, will remain untrimmed until the dormant season. I intend to continue with heavy feeding throughout the season.
